My favorite Kendama (the one I won in a tournament last year) has a knot along the big cup. It's starting to separate and flatten out the shape of the cup. It still plays fine, but I worry when it's going to give way. The bad part is they don't make them any more. The right pic shows the closest cousin. I may have to get one on order to have a backup for our upcoming tournament towards the end of January.
