This is kind of crazy to think about. When we first started using cordless, then cellular phones, I didn't really imagine It would come to wrist based satelite comms in my lifetime…
My schedule changed a bit last weekend and I wanted to let Julie know we were still safe, but would be getting off the trails late. My watch offered to let me connect to the satellites overhead. I gave it a try, and while crawling down the mountain, managed to get a message through to Jewels.
To be clear, this isn't my watch connecting to my phone, but rather my watch connecting to and conducting 2-way messaging via the satellites… Crazy stuff. Even better, it's "free" for the first two years you own a current Apple Watch or phone. This comes in pretty handy as I am so often out in the boonies.
