Let’s change a wheel!

I think I forgot to post about me slicing on tire on my last off-road trip in early January.  I didn't see the right end of a culvert and got to practice changing out to my spare on the fly.  Luckily, I had everything we needed and I had several from the group helping out.  Less than twenty minutes and I was ready to roll again.

Bad news, it's a nasty sidewall cut.  Not really something you can plug or patch.  I probably will, just to have a backup, but I guess I'll be getting a new tire.  All my wheels are at 70% tread wear.  You're not supposed to put a new tire on and mix it with old (diameter difference).  So instead of rotation all five tires, I will just rotate the four used ones until they need replacement, then I can put the spare back into rotation.  If I end up blowing another tire, then I could run two new ones as long as they're on the same axle.  Trying not to be too "engineer brain" about it. 🤪
