Let me tell you a story about a boy named Johnny...

This was VBS week at church. They always pick a mission to donate money to. Then they have a contest between the boys and girls to see who can bring in the most money. The girls always win... The winning side gets to heap apple sauce on the head of the other team's leader (Liz and Pastor Boo), one can for every hundred dollars.

Well, on the second night Johnny broke open his bank and gave all he had. We had a conversation before hand about making sure he was giving for the right reason (the mission donation) and not just to see Liz "get hers". Well, that night, the girls crushed the boys and by The 4th night, the boys wer over 9 cans behind... Johnny was down, feeling like maybe he "wasted" his "life savings" since it wouldn't make a difference in the score. We talked about giving to God, saving up treasure in Heaven, and God loving a cheerful giver. In the end, he was glad God would use what he gave with a good attitude.

Well, then there was tonight. Somehow, the boys managed to come from behind and raise over $1,200 just TONIGHT! They squeaked by the girls! Much to everyone's delight, Liz was drenched in apple sauce.

The best part, the difference was $104 in the boys favor. They needed a hundred dollar difference to get Liz. If Johnny hadn't given all he had (I think it was about $6) they wouldn't have had enough to get Liz.

It's great when God uses moments like this to teach us all and works these little things out. I also like to see a sense of humor in our leaders (and even God). Liz was soooooo sure she was the one going to be getting Pastor Boo!

As you can see below, the boys couldn't contain themselves!
