45-70 anyone…?

During our plinking last weekend, we had the chance to shoot a lever action 45-70! What a monster cartridge!  Here you see the empty brass pictured next to a .308, dwarfing it.  For reference, a .308 is about 50% bigger than 5.56 that a common AR uses.  45-70 is 50% bigger than the .308.  The 45-70 was surprisingly easy to shoot.  Julie and I both hit the 150 yard target on our first try.

Speaking of long distant targets.  We also both hit a 20"x24" plate target at 150 yards - WITH OUR PISTOLS!  I could hit one out of every two or three shots.  It was fun to mess around with, but I wouldn't want to have to depend on my handgun skills at that distance.  Give me a rifle for that any day!  hahahaha.
