It's hard to imagine arriving at the train station in Cincinnati after being liberated from the German concentration camps after the war. Many people escaped by forging travel documents. They arrived with nothing and headed for the doorway out into the city, the US. On the one hand the sweet taste of freedom finally, on the other - how to start from nothing?!
