I hung my water bottle on my bike's brake handle for a second and noticed how much of the anodized finish was worn off from my fingers resting on or using the brake lever. It takes a lot of use for fingers to wear down metal coatings I would think? I've sure been happy with this bike. Zoe and I have logged a LOT of miles on it together.
