For my trip around the mid west, I managed to efficiently plan so that most days, my travel was short (3-4 hours between stops). But if you're gone enough days, they add up. Between work and personal travel, I ended up logging over 2,600 miles in 8 days. I was pretty happy with my 32 miles per gallon too.
To put it in perspective, that's enough to drive from home to California and a little more!
