Her rehab friend needed someone to pick up this juvenile red-tail hawk and get it to the Raptor Rehab Center so she volunteered us! We got to meet some of the people, learn about the process and see all the other owls, hawks, eagles, and buzzards they have there. It was fun to see a little bit behind the scenes.
He was found by the police in the middle of the street late at night. He seemed to mostly just be in hawk shock. They couldn't find anything actually wrong upon initial exam at the raptor center. She said he would probably rest up, be fed, ensure he's healthy, do pretty well and be released soon. There's a chance we'll get to help with his release back in Carlisle as well. :)
