Many of the rooms have THIS nice view of downtown Nashville.

Scoping out the site for Breakfast for my upcoming team meeting in Nashville.

Father-son camping at it’s best!

This was my first camping trip with one of my boys!  I learned a valuable lesson about prioritizing God and family that weekend…

I'd been laid off that day, and thought about cancelling the trip to the weekend of fellowship, devotion and fun so that I could start my job search.  Instead, I decided that Johnny shouldn't miss out and that it would be good to focus on God and him for the weekend.  I sat around the campfire that Friday night sharing about my new need.  Sunday morning as we were packing up, Jim Knowles walked up to me and handed me enough money for a couple week's of groceries that the guys had collected among them!  Wow!  Talk about humbling.

Just before we left on Sunday, Paul McNiel (went to our church, but I didn't know him very well) asks me for my number saying his boss was hiring. That Monday I get a call and an interview and I started at Beta LaserMike on Wednesday, just five days after being laid off.  The Lord provided, Johnny got his camping trip and I learned another lesson in trusting the Lord.

A trip to downtown Cincinnati (Fountain Square) with Julie and the boys.

We enjoyed feeding the pigeons and looking around.

I enjoyed the view of Dayton and the river from the art museum’s grand staircase

Back at the art museum I enjoyed these ancient samurai swords!

The level of detail and craftsmanship is amazing!

This was the machine we worked so many years to bring to fruition.

It was used to machine the read heads for hard drives in a mass but unique manner.  This was my colleague Don Caupp that was the lead toolmaker.  It was extra challenging to have to do all the commissioning work in our clean room suits…

Our hotel in Mexico

The Presidential in Guadalajara.  If I remember right, this was the view from the highway on the way back to it one night after work.  It was a pretty place.  Nice accommodations, good food, and nice to look at. :) IBM took good care of us down there.

Ok, but you STILL have to look at my next favorite piece of glass…

This one was about three feet wide and had every color you could imagine in it!  I tried to capture the perfect angle where they were all reflected.

Ok, this is the last time I’ll make you look at this piece of glass…

This was just another side view of all the crazy facets in this work at the art museum.  Very interesting and cool!

I got an all expense paid trip to Mexico…

We finally finished the prototype of our machine we'd installed in San Jose and now it needed to be put in to production in Guadalajara.  So, off I went.  This was the courtyard to the cafe where we ate lunch.  Good food, good views and good weather.

Andy sure loved his binkie, AND this floor toy.

Check out that big ole smile! It's evident even WITH the binkie, haha.

It’s hard to capture the immense grand stair case

The lighting and size make it a challenge, but here was my best attempt.

I really enjoyed the cloister at the Dayton Art Institute.

Now THIS is a place that would keep the kid’s attention

The Indianapolis Children's museum.  We all enjoyed going there.  It was fun and interesting for kids and adults alike.

Andy was so cute when you could get him belly laughing!

This painting was ridiculously huge!

Julie is 5'6"… That makes the painting almost twenty feet tall.  She looks so tiny next to it!  You had to stand all the way across the room to really be able to take it in.  This was the largest work, for sure, at the Dayton Art Institute.

Back to modern day, I enjoyed the grand staircase of the art institute.

It's fun to know that my brother and his team were part of its restoration recently.

We decided to visit the Piatt Castle with our toddlers…

We quickly realized they weren't as interested as we were…. We ended up carrying them most of the way, but still enjoyed the sights.

About this time, Stef and Josh decided to get married…

It was fun to watch their relationship evolve.  You could tell Josh was smitten with her.  Eventually he won her heart we were allowed to reference him as her boyfriend.  They've done well together and been a good Christian example of parents and family.

It was really impossible to fathom all the facets and reflections!

Here you can see where the artist signed his work too.

This past weekend, Julie and I enjoyed the glass exhibit.

We decided to hit the art museum on a whim.  This was our favorite part and favorite piece for sure!

We took out babies to Ohio Caverns for Memorial Day weekend.

The Dayton Art Institue last weekend

Julie and I decided on a whim to visit and see where Larry worked.  We enjoyed the exhibits.  It was cool to see world famous painters like Van Gogh!

I liked the purple looking sky from the last of the sunset on the way home.

Going for a walk with my new baby!

And YES, Daddy does love him!

Just a nice view of the flag and industry of Detroit.

I enjoyed the sunset on the way back from my week of district meetings around Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee.

Introducing you to Fowling. Football bowling…

Observe the ridiculous lawlessness of Fowling!  On the one hand it was good clean fun.  On the other, you never knew which direction you were (or your phone was) going to get tagged from…!?

A Blue Angel salute to the flag

You can see the difference in shutter speed, resolution, and detail compared to the cameras of today, but it's still a good shot. :)

Julie’s dad enjoyed taking the boys and me to the Dayton Air Shows.

Great memories with the four of us!

Here are some of my earliest digital camera shots I took.  The Blue Angels in their formation fly-by.

I did stay long enough to enjoy a game of fowling…

Think bowling, but with an F because your are bowling by throwing a Football…. It's quite chaotic.  You never know where you will get whacked or by what…!  A ricocheted pin, a crazily bouncing football, or just an errant throw from a few lanes over.  It was fun for all and I even picked up a seven-ten split at one point!

A quick view of the GM world headquarters building in Detroit

I was just passing through one day last week.

Let the stacking of the cats begin!

Julie and I finally decided to try the StoneHouse restaurant in Waynesville.

It was a decent balance of price and yummy!  We've already gone back for more Spartan style wings!  Plus, I got a nice picture out of the deal. ;)

New knife designs coming from one of our favorite makers…

Jimpy Designs.  It's fun because he is just one guy in his garage.  His first design was a monster hit.  Lets see what's in store next!?

Julie is the perfect mom for boys!

Here, Johnny and she are carefully learning about a newly hatched cicada. :)

Let the show begin!

It was fund to see Alton Brown's latest show.  We saw cooking, game shows, story telling and humor.  It was a fun evening for all four of us.

More of our walking around Cincinnati for the Alton Brown show

This was a little alley shortcut Johnny found on the way back to the car.

This seems like just a few years ago.

The Friday nights with dad tradition continues with Andy :)

It looks like the Buckeye propaganda does too!

We went to see Alton Brown in Cincinnati.

Johnny and I got a chance to walk around downtown and snap a few pics.  I loved this old Nikon sign.  I'm guessing early eighties?

Enjoying a Dayton sunrise on the way to Detroit :)

Awww what a sweet little snuggle bug!

You can tell he was REALLY asleep because the binky fell out! Haha.

Falling fast asleep!

It was always amazing how quickly having a warm baby in your arms would make you fall asleep.  Here Andy and I are snuggling and having a soda.  ;) I remember those days fondly.  I recognize this as about the time I was going to Brazil too.  That's because I first had those lime Pepsis down there then found them at Jungle Jim's here.

Julie bought me a new box for my knives, watch bands, and rings!

It has two layers so I have LOTS of room.  Everything fits perfectly.

Julie and I thoroughly enjoyed a date night with Josh and Stef!

Turns out Stef is a pretty good shot!  She had a tiny little gun and did really well with it.

Julies dad made this for Andy’s arrival home from the hospital. ;)
