Johnny was ready to play when we got home. It was a loooong day with a LOT of structure and almost no play! But they both did pretty well. Tomorrow it's off to Sparks games!

From Science Fair to Lincoln Logs
97.5 out of 100!!
Johnny did great presenting to the judges and scored a 97.5 out of 100 possible points. The judges had a lot of nice comments including his ability to explain a hypothesis and what his was! I love him! I'm proud ;)

Proud Kindergartener
Here's Johnny, all setup for his Science Fair. He set it all up himself, and is excited! He even went and asked "Mrs. Princes" (the principle) if he could eat the candy she left for him. :)

Proper cutting

Financials and a farm
We had an appointment with our financial planner today to go over the state of the Barton Union. They moved into fancy new digs. They must be kinda in the country. This is the nice view at the back window.

Teacher
Andy was talking with the former Montgomery County Comissioner tonight. He pointed at Julie and says, "She's my Mom, she's my Teacher". It's nice to be both. Julie swelled up with pride. I can tell she enjoys both her jobs. :)

That looks like trouble... The boys are both out of sorts tonight. I think there's something in the water... Julie's having a stressful day too! ;)

Johnny and I finally finished gluing on all the pictures and text for his display. He's getting a little excited about the judging now. Although, I think he's ready to be done! ;) Tonight I have to type his report for him. Then it will be review time Thursday night.

Fight
Johnny and I did his big science fair experiment tonight. We found that the fish really fight at one inch speration. They nearly come out of their skins at zero inches! :)
A reaction?
Johnny was VERY carefully studying the reaction of the fish to see if it was none, low, medium, or high. He recorded them with stickers on a chart we made. He did a really good job.

Andy and Grampy are cooking. Andy says, "you use that pan, and I'll use this one on medium high heat". Then after putting the crescent dogs in the oven, "okay, now set these timers!". Haha. What a cook. Then Grampy pulled out a knife and Andy says, "oooooh, that's sharp, don't even think about it!"

I don't know how?!?!?!?!
This is one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. It is on my father in-laws car. Somehow, during the storm, the combination of ice, rain, blowing, melting, etc. created a perfect copy of his antennae just behind it and off to the side. It was offset the same direction the wind was blowing. I don't know how in the world it happened. I can only figure that somehow drips blowing off the real antennae created this one. You can build a stalagmite (sp?) in 3 days? You can even see the spirals and the thinner spots replicated!!!
Look out below
This is ice falling from the power lines. I was taking pictures near hear yesterday and kept hearing a crashing sound that I couldn't explain. I kept looking around until I realized it was the sound of the ice falling off and hitting the ice crusted snow below and breaking through it.

The folks at Awana were about to pass out Pizza. They were joking around and said, "ok, who wants some broccoli"? All the kids yell "yuck-nooooo" except Andy who's yelling, "me me me, I do!!!!". Haha.

Real Mantids

It rained all day and turned to ice about an hour before I walked out to my car. There were over 30 accidents in that hour. My car was encased! Thankfully, I'm home safe. I took my secret, less traveled road home.

Science Fair Backdrops
Johnny and I worked for about an hour tonight to make the backboards for his science fair. He helped mesaure the cuts, then drilled EVERY hole for the hinges (16 total) and then either turned the screw driver or the wrench to tighten each bolt. He was really proud of it and it looks good! He even managed to turn one bolt so tight that he broke it off. His reaction...? "I'm a little beasty!"
On to shopping
Every once in a while, I get the boys a delux shopping cart. It's always good for about 45 minutes of shopping. After that, they start to get restless.
Friends
We went out for dinner and grocery shopping last night. We decided to take advantage of the extra time since Awana was cancelled. Andy and Julie were loving it up.

This is a scene Snow Buddies. The puppy licks an icicle, and his tongue sticks to it. He pulls it off, and says the above. I brought icicles in last night, and Andy ran around doing just that, over and over. I guess you know what we watched for family video night on Friday....

The Eclipse
Of course, I HAD to try and get a picture of the eclipse tonight. Trouble is that the moon moves pretty fast. By the time the shutter closes, it's already in a different spot then when the shutter opened. I was able to get a reasonable shot by balancing the shutter open time. See what you think... I like the sun burst looking crater on the lower right side.
Delayed then Closed
Well, the snow first delayed and then closed school. It looks like the boys decided to spend their extra time wisely! :)

Another shot
You can see a little more about how I am integrating this into the existing family room wall. Andy says to me tonigt, "Okay dad, tell me what to do and I will help you". How cute is that! He held some boards for me so I could take some measurements. He makes a good clamp!
Progress
Well, I am getting a little further along. Next, I guess it is mounting the shelf supports. I have to do somethig about that pesky black stuff they glued the previous paneling up with...! I'm happy with the way it's coming out and Julie is getting excited.
Super Man
Andy got the idea to tie a blanket around him for a cape. Trouble is, if he moves, it falls off, so this is the most still you'll ever see him! :)

Learning, helping
The boys are getting pretty good at helping me with things on my projects when I want them to, so I let them do things they want to sometimes. Driving screws in the drywall is one of those things they ALWAYS want to do. They are both getting good at going slow, and stopping at the right point. I help by supplying the necessary push force, but they do the rest.

Boba Fett Ship
Johnny asked me to make him a Boba Fett ship from Star Wars. I started with the swoopy front, and he quickly told me where to add things next. We worked with it until he was satisfied. It's fun to combine the big and little ones.
