I loved the TSO stained glass vibe!
I could take a picture of every song or scene transition at a Trans Siberian Orchestra concert. The music is good, and so is the light show!

I won free tickets from a Cincinnati Cyclones game where Andy and I participated in a contest. So I took Julie to see the Trans Siberian Orchestra with me. They never disappoint!

We were on the way to dinner before our free concert and spotted this! I had to stop and capture how the sun was lighting up the reed bricks against the blue sky!

Hope is reborn…
It's hard to imagine arriving at the train station in Cincinnati after being liberated from the German concentration camps after the war. Many people escaped by forging travel documents. They arrived with nothing and headed for the doorway out into the city, the US. On the one hand the sweet taste of freedom finally, on the other - how to start from nothing?!

You could see some paintings depicting the terrible conditions. These walls were from actual buildings at Auschwitz.

For some reason, this put it in somber perspective for me the best… All those rows rows os bunks! The entrance at the top, and the crematorium in the lower left. The whole camp was set up just to process bodies from the trains, into the gas chambers, then on to the ovens… The scale of the operation, and this was just one of many…!

Depressing I know, but sobering as you realize what happens once a society starts taking away basic human rights… And they were just getting started! They hadn't gotten to the gas chambers yet…!

Thankful we don’t live in these conditions today…
I'm thankful for our current rights, living conditions, privileges, comforts, family, and political climate. However stressful life might be at times, it pales in comparison. These folks are waiting for the mass firing squad pits…

Sadly, as the war wore on, many folks never had a chance to wear one. Most were executed upon arrival eliminating the need to house, feed, or cloth them!

The German crowds gathered to hear Hitler
He can be seen in this wall size mural. He's at the podium just under the screen. The shadow of the person standing looking at the wall pretty much points to Hitler. Were they there just to see the spectacle, did they believe it for themselves, or were they expected to be there.

Think of the soldiers that wore these with pride, yet committed the atrocities… I imagine there was a level of mental anguish, denial, and compartmentalization that had to be playing out…

I just love this shot. A great combo of architecture, color, and photographic framing! A definite fave in my collection. How big should my collection of faves be? Top 100? Is that too many. Probably book length. Top 10, too few? Maybe top 25. Might be a good idea for a week or so of blog posts…

Random connection to the weekend…
I randomly ended up at this radio museum. I didn't realize it was going to tie so closely to the plans Julie and I had for the last weekend. We had tickets to the Auschwitz exhibit at the Cincinnati Museum. I just happened to see my first in-person swastika at the radio museum beforehand. The start of a sobering journey.

My friend took me on a whirlwind overview after a lunch meeting. It was cool to see some of the history of HAM radio, Voice of America and WLW all interwoven around the time of WWII

Dinner and a walk with Logan
I had the chance to hang out with Logan for a bit a week or so ago. He brought me a cool, 3-D printed box cutter too. We took a walk in the woods after lupper while we chatted about gadgets. My box cutter found a home with some of my other "quick reference" tools. THEN I realized I could put a ceramic blade in a plastic holder and… that started thought process… 🤪
Proof of concept… Live Multicam video capture.
I’m trying to figure out if I can use Final Cut Pro and Live Multicam to capture two or three camera angles at once. I used the dogs, my iPad and my iPhone as a test. Then I recorded the clip playing in FinalCut. Next I need to figure out how to edit it.

Northern lights in southern Ohio?!
Last week we were able to see the aurora borealis from our front yard. Even with the naked eye. It looks slightly better with the sensitivity of our phone cameras, really cool to look at for a few minutes around 10p or so. We were even treated to all the colors. Reds, purples and greens. Which pic do you like the best?

I have my digital passport in my Apple Wallet. This will be convenient! I never like having to keep my wallet out during all the hustle and bustle of the security lines. Now I don't have to.
I can take on the world…
With these little gadgets stashed in my pocket, I can take on must about any quick maintenance task. 🤪 Every common English and metric socket along with most common bits all close at hand with my mini ratchet tools and Leatherman.

Zoe and I thought is was a nice day for a bike ride.
She loves to plow her muzzle through the snow throwing it in every direction while she investigates all the yummy smells lurking underneath hahaha.
