Soooooo, the officer walks up to my window and says, "This usually isn't a problem with THESE vehicles…" I guess I have it running right and have the right balance of power, gear ratios and tire size… I had just taken over for Andy and hit the gas to get up to speed coming out of town. I looked down and realized I was over the limit so I let my foot off the gas and coasted back down to the right speed. I noticed the car in front of me pull onto the shoulder and wondered why. Then he pulled back on RIGHT behind me and it became clear. The cars are unmarked in Kentucky, but when the blue lights came on, I figured it out.
The good news, he gave me a break and wrote me for five over. He said it wouldn't give me points on my license either. The bad news, I still had to pay a fine.
The funny part, none of my Jeep friends believed me. I literally had to show them the ticket. I accidentally went over the speed limit and didn't even realize it until I looked down at the speedometer. Not many Jeeps run or ride well enough to say that. A sliver lining I guess. ;)
