Apple Intelligence’s version of me…

"Create an image of David camping in the mountains"…

Trippy pic of three vehicles…

We were looking at Andy's new van in front of our open garage door.

Andy’s new ride getting wrapped!

Of course, he need to bring it by to show it off! It's a monster for sure.  It's worth driving that big thing around to be able to stand up in it.  He's going to have SO MUCH room!

My family is apparently WAY better at revolvers than me…!

John came in FIRST.  Andy third, and Julie 8th compared to my 16th place finish.  I have excuses of course, but I am going to let them revel in their victories! Impressive Bartons!

You know you’ve had a good night at the range when…

Bead lock wheels save your rims too…

You don't think about the beating that your rims take on the rocks while off-roading.  These rings bolt onto the rims to keep the bead locked on the rim, but they also protect the rest of the rim.  Look closely and you can see all the dings and scuffs the ring takes.  We just bounce off and keep going!

We ALL enjoyed revolver night at the range competition

Playing around with flexing out my suspension

While crawling up a stack of cement blocks.  Put it in first gear low, let the clutch out, stay on the brakes and let it walk right up…!

A closer look at my national park thermos :)

In brighter news, I started a national parks sticker collection

I needed another coffee thermos because my original one was leaking all over.  At the same time, I found a twenty pack of national parks stickers for $20 at REI.  I didn't realize how many I'd been to!

Well, ALMOST a good day…

I decide to test out how my rig does in a Jeep vs. Kia contest… All I can say is when traffic suddenly stopped in front of us my 7,000 pounds is harder to stop than the little two door was.  It got sandwiched between me and the lady in front of him…

You can see how each of us faired… The Kia is Toast, the Ford Escape limped to a nearby house.  I drove the rest of the way home from Columbus.  The bottom pic is my Jeep the next morning.  I had to remount one fog light, and there's one more scratch on my bumper than there already was.  And those are just the factory bumpers still.

I felt bad.  The good news is nobody was hurt, I can't find any damage on my Jeep, and I helped safely get everyone home that was involved.  I called and paid for the tow for the Kia, helped the other lady inspect her car for drivability, and my insurance covered it all.  The funny part is, the police said if the vehicles were off the road and nobody was claiming injuries, we were on our own… Expect self rescue, no body is coming!  All involved were thankful a caring knowledgeable person was there to provide help, flashlights, blankets, traffic safety, compassion, and even a lighter.  I made sure my insurance company was able to close the loop with all of them and even provided interpretive assistance since the Kia folks didn't understand or speak any English.  I got to test out my little Spanish and the modern translation apps on our phones…

A good day…

…when you go shooting and come home looking like THIS!

Sly set up a GREAT little course of fire.

The final exercise for the day was this competition stage with a timer.  I was running a pump gun and iron sights.  I came within seconds of winning the while thing and that was including running against the guys with optics and semi-auto rigs!  We had to knock down all the white plates, run back to the fifty yard line while changing our loaded shells out to a club, and make the long “X” shot.  I was happy I hit them ALL first try and my run went as planned.  It was clean and quick.  Best part, THIS range comes with a built in off-road course…!

I got a chance to take a shotgun class about a week ago.

It was an all day affair and about a two hour drive.  I learned a lot and worked out my tactical shotgun gremlins.  It was fun to see the variety of hardware and skills that showed up for the class.

Pepper back in her tent…

That feeling…

…when hitting a few rocks and bumps while off-roading puts your steering BACK in alignment! My wheels straight for the moment.  It's a funny thing about Jeeps and off-roading.  The steering linkages shift around a bit since you bounce around off road.  Sometimes you need to adjust your drag link to straighten out your steering wheel.  Other times, the trail does it for you, LOL!

Cody’s play this year!

It was fun to see Cody with a leading part in his school play again this year.  He was Mathew in Anne of Green Gables for his Senior year.  He's good at roles like that.  A good balance of serious and humor.  All five of us enjoyed going together for a night out.

They may be too early, but…

…it makes for an interesting pic.  The colors of the leaves, lights, and evening light stood out together as unique.  I guess that’s the good side of having Christmas lights on before Thanksgiving?

Pretty flowers for I Love You Day!

I got Julie this nice bouquet for our made up holiday from back when we first started dating.  She made it into this really pretty arrangement! Lilies are her favorite and they go really well with a dozen roses too. :)

Every cat needs a tiny tent!

Andy driving the new rig home for the first time!

It needs branded and to have the shelving installed still.  He can't wait to pick it back up again!

Andy gets to roll in a new to him van for work!

His dream come true, being able to to fully stand while grabbing the next thing he needs out of it!  It's awesome that he's thought well enough of that he's gotten the newest vehicle twice now!

Trying a new calendar widget on my watch

I think I prefer this new view that shows little blops for appointments coming up.  You get a little piece of text telling you the next one.  You can see different colors for work vs. personal appointments.  I'll roll with if for a while and see if I like it.  So far, I would say yes!

All packed up and no place to stand/beg…

I was heading out for an all day class in the morning so I had my rattle covered with all the supplies, ammo, and hardware I'll need.  That didn't live Bitty much place to sit or even stand to beg for her afternoon meal… She found a tiny spot. ;)

Repairs in the middle of the night.

They used a huge water jet to "drill" the hole for the new post.  Then these four trucks showed up to install the new pole around 1:30 in the morning.  Quite the crew for our little problem.

They sure cut a LOT (too many) branched out of our trees.  There are three we're afraid won't make it… Time will tell I guess.  You can see how many branches they cut since they're all laying in the little strip of yard between our two driveways.  Start in the lower right and you can see them all the way to the street…

Boys will be boys….

Andy taking hits from a FIVE GALLON water jug that Johnny's helping hold…!

Getting ready for revolver night

I inherited this nice little backup from Jeff. I figured it was time to put it to use.  I had to get a holster first.  Luckily, I found a cheap one on eBay. Of course, Andy had to photobomb MY fashion shot. ;)

The burning trees made for a cool light show…

I guess we better call the fire department…?!

So they can watch the fire until the power company gets here I guess.  Not much else they could do…

2024-11-24

Yeah, THAT’s the tree on fire…

Some "crasher" ran off the road and broke our power pole right in two!  I was walking out to offer help and he threw it in reverse and took off…!

THIS might be a problem…

The colors are vibrant this year!

Video of chef’s choice sashimi!

They go over the top with the display for their regular customers.  Sometimes they even hid a treat under the shell.  I’ve never had fog in my meal before.

Resistance is futile…

How can you NOT like something like this…?!❤️🐶

Some more of Julie’s awesome earrings!

DJeep for da Jeep

I got this lighter and sticker from my coffee shop and just thought this made a good pairing and pic.  Funny, I later gave the lighter away one night along the highway… Stay tuned for that story…

Julie’s response to my blog post was funny!

Check your eggs for cracks…

Most of the time I find one or two.  This time only two in the whole 1.5 dozen were solid.  Even the two of the ones left in the dividers LOOKED good at first glance, but if you look closely, they have weaknesses starting to show.  Julie boils up a couple cartons at a time and they won't survive that process unless they're confirmed solid ahead of time.  She gets 100% yield if we just run through them quick before buying.

If you love someone, let them know!

How?  Spend time with them, make memories, enjoy some of their interests, and don't forget to flat out say it sometimes❣️

It was an awesome weekend as a dad last week when both of my boys separately wanted to hang out when they had some spare time!  Love all my family!

Eating with this guy is always a hoot!

Andy brings fun to whatever we do.

I had to make sure my backup shotgun worked.

I "inherited" this Remington 870.  It's a classic, all wood furniture.  Was a cruiser gun that "rode shotgun".

Quick draw John! Practicing our revolver skills.

Shopping trip success.

Only Johnny would feel the need to take a modeling shot of his new holster for his revolver. Hahahahaha.  We're getting ready for our revolver night coming up for our league.

Johnny getting distracted while shopping for a holster… :)

Identity crisis…?

Now Zoe's imitating a cat…! She took over the cat house since Pepper was laying on Zoe's rug hahahahaha!

I like this shot of me enjoying Andy driving off-road.

I couldn't get him out of the driver seat all day for the second day our our adventures!

Nice parking job…

Not very often that you can find a parking spot for your Jeep inside a cave…

Other cool shots of our Jeep cave fun

More pics saved from the rest of the group.  It’s interesting to see their perspectives too.  You can see my Jeep buried in there (blue ring lights on the headlights) and Andy wandering the cave in the blue shirt.

Me getting to handle bigger plumbing parts than Andy!

These fittings are worth several hundred dollars each!

Julie’s making a bunch of really awesome earrings!

A few other things we got into…

These are a few pics from other folks that started to filter in after Andy and I spent the weekend riding together.  I really like these rocky sections.  They look really cool and are fun/challenging to climb.

Enjoying a night out on a gift card

One of our range patrons and friends gave us a gift card he'd one.  We'd been wanting to try Club Oceano at the Greene so that have us the perfect excuse.
