Playing with watches…

$26 on Amazon got me this decent substitute for my Apple Watch. It has a few shortcomings, but is quite functional to keep me up to day, track my fitness, etc. Fun to try something new.

Zoe loves her ice…

…but she has to let it warm up a bit or it sticks to her mouth parts, so this is how she does it. Cute!

Andy took this shot of me enjoying the NRA show.

When you have surgery coming up on your knee, and you've got to cover dozens of acres for nine hours, you sometimes take extreme measures…!  It actually ended up working out nicely.  I could carry all our stuff, gave a place for Julie to sit and rest her back while I was drooling over the goods at each booth, and it let me be the butt of the jokes all day!  I enjoyed the show without having to worry about tearing up my knee further!

Looking back on the Great Ocean Road we had just covered.

It was awesome to find these two alongside the road in the wild in Australia!

The tour van pulled off the road where some koala bears had been spotted recently.  We were fortunate enough to find this mother and baby just hanging out in the tree!  I love this shot of them.

We visited with 77,000 of our like minded acquaintances ;)

Is was a fun day with lots of toys to look at!

A couple hours later and we were in Indy.

A pretty Dayton sunrise

We were on the way to Indianapolis, a week ago last weekend and this was the at the start of our journey.  Julie, Andy, Hannah and me were headed to the NRA show.

This is kind of like the Pacific Coastal Highway in the US.

I booked a van that drove us along it for most of the day.  It was a great way to find all the sites easily and affordably.  It was a wonderful experience.  Koala bear, light houses, good food, the Twelve Apostles, and a beautiful sunset at the end of the road.

The beautiful views of the Great Ocean Road in Australia!

You might wonder how I had all the Australia night pictures recently in my RetroBlogging and now am still dating them the same but it's daytime now?  It's because my camera time zone didn't change even though I did.  I landed late in the day on a Saturday and looked around the city.  Then took this tour the following Sunday morning.  My camera was still behind 12 or 13 hours.  So it thought is was till the 21st for both events.  The wonder of time travel, hahahaha.

I liked this reflecting shot from the lake nearby our Headquarters

I drive by it when going from the hotel to work and always wanted to get this shot.   I finally had time and stopped to enjoy the view.

How far is the horizon?

Boston is 22 miles from our HQ, you can clearly see the city skyline off in the distance in this shot.  So you can at least see THAT far on a nice day like this.  25 miles would be possible I'm sure.  I guess it depends how big of an object is that far away.

Three of our four buildings in the Boston area

I recently visited our HQ again and took one of my lunch breaks to fly by the buildings.  The ones in the lower left, center, and center right are ours.  The white buildings with a yellow stripe around the top.  The field in the foreground is property they keep open for playing ultimate frisbee at lunch and other activities.  It's a pretty and nice place to work.  I alway enjoy my visits.

Crab-walking an off-road wrecker…?

This is what it can look like when you have steering on both axles.  Pretty wild view from a YouTube channel I follow.

Still walking around Melbourne in 2007

I really enjoyed the one day I had to enjoy the city.  This is two pictures I took on the bridge over the river.  I just pasted them together into one to get a nice wide and pretty view.

What happens when you flatten a sphere…?

You get a huge file that looks something like this… This is the same “picture” as my previous post with the link, but it’s just flattened out so you can see it all at once.  Interesting to zoom around on this one too.  Crazy what computers and drones can do for us these days…

Down to earth again…

This is me riding my bike around that same lake.  I am getting a little better with my balance on my mountain bike and it made me brave enough to try this ridge.  A little to the left and it's a wet ride for sure…

More fun with sphere photos

In this shot, you're looking at a lake a half mile from our HQ in Natick, Massachusetts.  For my lunch break, I bike to the park on the shore.  The beach and hill are where I enjoy getting my exercise in climbing around with my bike.  Using the link below, you can get a broader view of the area by panning and zooming around the whole lake.  See if you can find the hill and beach using the spherical photo?

I finally got this shot…

I've driven across the Hudson River several times and always wish I was ready to snap this view of the two old bridges.  I was ready this time and managed to snag it.  As a bonus, the sunset gave a nice hue to the eastern sky too. :) This was from my trip to the Boston area a couple weeks ago.

This is one crazy 7-eleven…

It's built all crooked… The ground floor was a 7-eleven.  I don't know what the rest of it was supposed to be.  Odd and kind of cool at the same time.  Imagine the construction guys trying to read the blueprints and figure out what they were supposed to do?  Or maybe they couldn't and that's the problem? Hahahah.

Ok, back to our regularly scheduled program…

I posted enough of Chris and Cheyenne's wedding for now.  Meanwhile, 16 years ago, I am still looking around downtown Melbourne, Australia at night.  I liked the contrast of this temple and the sky scrapers together.

All of my mom’s direct descendants that could attend.

She remarked how it's fun to see what all she's been responsible for!  We grabbed the chance to get a family shot of the kids, cousins and +1's that could make it to Chris and Cheyenne's wedding.  We had a great time  and enjoyed celebrating with them.
David, Julie, Johnny, Savannah (hiding), Colin, Emily, Larry, Susan, Zac, Mom, Andy, Hannah, Chris, Laura, Cheyenne, Ian, Sophia.

This is a fun shot…

The folks at the table thought I was just taking a picture of Laura and Zac.  And I'm not quite sure what's wrong with Laura in this one, but is typical for us getting together, hahahahaha!

Then there are these two…

Not quite sure what to think about Zac and John, but they are certainly always clowning around!

The grand entrance of Mr. & Mrs. Strong!

Chris and Cheyenne had some fun arriving at the reception.  Here, they're showing off their rings. :)

It was fun having us all together and lookin’ good

So we decided to grab a shot of our whole crew!  It makes a nice family photo.  Love them all❣️
Savannah, John, Julie, David, Andrew & Hannah :)

A sweet moment with John and Savannah.

We were playing games and waiting for dinner and I caught this moment.  Love it❣️

I got some cute candid shots while we were waiting for the bubble line

Here, Andy and Hannah are clowning around, but looking good while doing so hahaha.

Chris and Cheyenne look pretty happy!

I liked the look of the combined sand

It represented Chris and Cheyenne joining together and mixing their lives.

I love this shot of my sis!

It says so much about the journey of love, marriage, commitment to each other, and parenting.  It's one of my favorite from the wedding.

Quite a nice looking wedding party last weekend :)

2023-04-24

I liked the lighting, petals, and leaves along the aisle.

Susan and Cheyenne did a good job of coming up with a beautiful setting for the day.

This is a great picture of Johnny.

Ian looks good too.  They're ready for a GQ magazine shoot, or a wedding or something. ;)

We figured we better get a few family pictures in while we looked presentable.

It's was fun to get dressed up with my sisters.

Of course I had to find some cool scenes to snap while I waited for the festivities ;)

We interrupt this broadcast…

I usually run about a week behind on real-time blogging.  I've also been filling in with some RetroBlogging as you know.  But we had a wedding last weekend and I wanted to share some of the highlights.

Here you see some of Chris' relatives all ready to stand by him during the ceremony.  They all cleaned up quite nice.  I like the smiles on John's, Zac's, Ian's and Emily's faces!

I recently found a new setting on my iPhone…

If you "mount" it to a tripod, it opens up a new level of long exposures more suitable for astro-photography.  These were in my driveway, sitting on a cheap stand, resting on the bin while I was taking out the garbage.  I wanted to try and capture Orion (bottom shot) before he disappeared for the summer. ;)

I loved the perspective of our neighborhood from my drone recently

I headed into town for the evening in Australia.

Parenting…

I really liked this shot of a monkey family from my trip to the zoo in Melbourne, Australia.

My drone can see from my house in Waynesville to my mom’s in Xenia…

We are about 12 miles apart.  The water tower and light blue building in the upper left of this shot are past my mom's house.  This is the view from my house at 350' or so in the air.  She and I have always wondered how far we can see off into the horizon.  Well, at least twelve miles. ;)

I-71 as seen from my house. About 12 miles away…

Can you tell what this hippo is thinking…?!

I'm not sure, but he sure looks likes he's thinking "don't mess with me!" And "if I get out of here, I am coming for YOU!"  Haha.  They are scary, fast, huge beasts as well!

I had no idea…

…that rhinos were THIS big?!  I went on a bus tour through the wildlife park in Australia.  This is a road that would fit two vans side by side passing each other.  This rhino is nearly as long as the two-lane road is wide!  Impressive for sure.
