I took some time to clean up the basement and rearrange my office this weekend.

I have a webcam for video calls, and use my phone camera to be able to show demos and application tests at the same time. I've had to clean up my act, come up with substitute studio lighting, and wire all my test bench up to be professional looking. It has kept me busy and been kind of fun too.

Are we ready for another month of this?!

I suppose it's a better safe than sorry situation. Glad we stocked up, prepped for virtual customer service at work, and have God to see us through. There is an element that is random, unexpected and interesting too. We've got to spend more time with the kids, It has changed the landscape of my work, It's allowed us to help Janice when she needs it, and gives the whole country/world something to rally around.

Your (partial) cat picture for the day... 😆

Having a little time for productivity.

Since the workshop was "doused with a fire hose" last weekend, I figured I better get it cleaned up. That was just the motivation I needed to reclaim the place from all the kid's little projects they'd done down there over the last year or so. A small price to pay for the fun. :)

Mark Carriker was an inspiring guy...

He died last week because of the cancer in his head. However, throughout he was an example of grace, fatherhood, and Christianity. In spite of his whole family's YouTube stardom, they all maintain their testimony, love and family values for the world to see.

Mark lived life joyfully right up until a couple days before he died. He was making the family coffee all through his battle, up until the last couple days.

Thanks Mark. You push us to be better Christians, better husbands, better dads.

Matt, Lee and the rest of you, you're in our prayers and keep up the good work. Thanks for keeping your priorities straight all along the way!

Here’s the next move they’re gonna play...

1. Take advantage of a crisis
2. Create a panic
3. Destroy the economy
4. Establish government dependence
5. Remove rights and freedoms

Sound familiar...?

Morning light

Andys finished his spike, and even stamped it!

Not bad for being all hand carved from a fallen limb from the yard!

Some positive news?

How come nobody is talking about the fact that we have such a low mortality rate with the virus. World average is over 4% by these numbers. If you take out the US cases and deaths, it's closer to 5%. While in the US, we are at just over 1%. That's good news.

I enjoy the light patterns while walking across the street to spend the night.

I love this time of year. The pond is full, temperatures are rising, and the grass is coming back to life.

If you’re bored during social distancing lockdown...

Listen to conservative talk radio, find a fallen limb in the yard, and whittle it into a kendama. The spike for the ken is standing there next to Andy's knife and hammer head. He's starting work on the serato in this pic.

Anyone else feel like we are just watching Rome burn?

This was just a pretty sunset on the way home the other night. I did think it looked a little like the sky or woods were on fire though!!

Quad-tasking during church.

I learned a new trick in all this new virtual world.  I have my notes on the left, the sermon outline on the right, the Bible on right fly-in, and the live video in the lower left.  I’m always surprised how much I can do with just an iPad!

Maths is fun...

When trying to figure out what inverter I needed for my backup system, I calculated my sump pump would draw 800 watts. Sure enough, that was right on the money.

Inverter, trickle charger, deep cycle battery and now we are good to go again!

New Coronavirus Stimulus Bill In Congress Creates U.S. Digital Dollar

Ok people... I know you're going to think I am crazy... But when THIS is what the government is working on during the current panic...  It REALLY makes you wonder a couple things.

1. What in the world does creating a digital dollar have to do with the pandemic or any honest help for it
2. How long have they had this ready just waiting for the moment when they can get us to swallow it
3. Why do they want to push this on us right now?
4. Doesn't it seem odd that the same people pushing the panic are also pushing this idea?
5. Does it send a shiver down your spine too, or is it just me...?

New Coronavirus Stimulus Bill In Congress Creates U.S. Digital Dollar

As the markets continue to drop and the U.S. looks to Congress for agreement on a massive stimulus package to save the economy from impacts of the coronavirus pandemic, the newest offer by House Democrats includes a very forward-looking kind of stimulus: the creation of a 'digital dollar' and the establishment of 'digital dollar wallets.' In what will send shock waves through the cryptocurrency and blockchain industry, particularly for those following central bank digital currencies around the world, this signals the U.S. is serious in establishing infrastructure for a central bank digital currency.
Both Speaker Pelosi's 'Take Responsibility for Workers and Families Act' and the 'Financial Protections and Assistance for America's Consumers, States, Businesses, and Vulnerable Populations Act (H.R. 6321),' introduced by Chairwoman Maxine Waters of Financial Services Committee, introduced these concepts today as a way of delivering the economic stimulus payments to U.S. citizens.

The bill establishes a digital dollar, which it defines as 'a balance expressed as a dollar value consisting of digital ledger entries that are recorded as liabilities in the accounts of any Federal Reserve Bank or ... an electronic unit of value, redeemable by an eligible financial institution (as determined by the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System).' Additionally, a digital dollar wallet is identified as 'a digital wallet or account, maintained by a Federal reserve bank on behalf of any person, that represents holdings in an electronic device or service that is used to store digital dollars that may be tied to a digital or physical identity.'
A mandate also requires all 'member banks' establish a 'pass-through digital dollar wallet' to all customers eligible for the stimulus. Member banks include those banks that are 'members' of the Federal Reserve and regulated by the Fed. Additionally, 'Non-Member' state banks - those that not members of the Federal Reserve and regulated by the FDIC - could opt-in to offer pass-through digital dollar wallets as well.
The Federal Reserve banks themselves would also make available a digital dollar wallet to any U.S. person eligible for the payments as well. Additionally, the U.S. Postal Service would aim to help unbanked individuals and/or those without proper ID to establish their identity be provided a digital dollar account, and would set up ATMs for customers to access their funds.
Public Interest Groups Weigh In
Daniel Gorfine, founder of fintech advisory firm Gattaca Horizons and former chief innovation officer at CFTC, as well as a founding director of the Digital Dollar Project, stated to Forbes, 'It is worth exploring, testing, and piloting a true USD CBDC and broader digital infrastructure in order to improve our future capabilities and resiliency, but it is also important that this effort not delay the government from deploying critical emergency funds using existing channels during this crisis. While the crisis underscores the importance of upgrading our financial infrastructure, broadly implementing a CBDC will require time and thoughtful coordination between the government and private sector stakeholders.'
Carmelle Cadet, Founder and CEO of EMTECH, a modern central bank technology and services company, is a technology provider in the world's first live retail CBDC with the Central Bank of Bahamas called the Sand Dollar. She has recently started a new initiative in the U.S. called 'Project New Dawn' to ensure the unbanked and underbanked receive economic stimulus payments. Pointing to a FDIC report in 2017 that identified 63 million people that are unbanked and underbanked in the U.S., she notes, 'If checks are the form of payment, the stimulus is not going to reach many of them. That would be approximately $100B underutilized of stimulus for lower income householders.'

Can you figure out how Andy got this footage?!

He flipped his phone at the same time as his kendama...  Crazy kid!

Good thing I am all set up for “selling from home”

I even used some old vision lighting to give me a look that hopefully won't scare away my colleagues and customers. ;)

In case you were wondering why I didn’t post yesterday...

They boys and I were frantically working on replacing the pumps for our sump pump. If you have ever wondered just what pumping water at 70 gallons a minute looks like... Just run down in your basement and take a look. It's a much better visual if the primary pump has failed, and the outlet of the backup pump has decided it doesn't need to be connected under the strain. Imagine the movies where you see a fire hydrant broken off... Julie awoke to the sound of THAT jet stream of water reaching all the way from the basement floor sump pump pit up to and bouncing off the ceiling of the basement. This happens to also be the underside of the floor right where Julie happened to be! She said she thought a tornado and thunderstorm was hitting the house all at once!

Luckily, it didn't run too long before I sprinted from across the street and killed the pump power, but it managed to short out the water heater, kill some of my electronic tools, and give the workshop area a nice cleaning. Going back to my "luck favors the prepared", my dad always taught me to have a reserve pump. We were able to quickly yank the normal/failed pumps and drop in the reserve. That kept the floods at bay while we repaired/replaced the main octopus of pumps, valves and pipes.

Today I'll see if I can dry out the water heater controller or I need to replace it or the whole heater...

I had noticed the primary pump taking a little longer to empty the water and thought I better replace it this weekend... Well, after yesterday, we now have a new primary, secondary and reserve pumps.

One of my favorite movie lines, “Luck favors the prepared”

If you find out the stores might be closed for a couple of weeks and you have to run out and buy staples, you MIGHT be doing it wrong. ;)

So, when they shut it all down later this weekend, you might want to be able to say, "As luck would have it, I have what I will need and God will provide".

We’ve been digitizing our childhood home movies...

We found evidence that Laura's been lying to us all these years. She's actually LEFT-HANDED! Dad didn't like that so she hid it ever since. Don't worry Laura, your secret is safe with us! ;)

A beautiful walk home earlier in the week.

Don’t tell Mom, but I know what she’s getting for Christmas...

Calgon, take me away! ;)

First four shots, four hits. Free standing 5.56 pistol, 50 yards.

Just blowing off some ammo this weekend.

A little fun in the sun this weekend.

First I sighted in the irons on my newest "Pistol" at 25 yards (left) and then I took pot shots, free-standing from 50 yards.

Fun little toy that packs a 5.56 wallop!

Pepper trying to figure out how to get into the new room she discovered in the mirror...

A nice view to wake up to while spending the night across the street.

Julie and I are on flu-watch duty and trading shifts.

Our world is so upside down...!

Such a novel idea...

When it’s crazy all around, you need your fluffy cat picture of the day...!

I bought 30 gallons at this price, this weekend!

AND stopped my first 5 gallon can right on the mark, first try! :)

I rented a new gun this past weekend. The Ruger 57

Fun little beast. Shoots a rifle style round. Easy to shoot, 20 rounds on board. Those holes in the red six are actually TWO double-taps. Nice.

Don't make my table too irresistible by leaving my jacket around... :)

Another round of cousins graduating!?

I can't believe this is the year we will graduate another round of cousins...! Isaac was taking pictures of Ian and captured this nice pic of one of the senior citizens. ;)

Johnny was playing with Julie’s dad’s older DSLR and got this picture of a teddy bear.

It's a stuff animal that Julie's grandma made for her. The lighting and composition somehow makes it look ominous. An interesting twist on the teddy bear topic. ;)

Inside the Blue Crab Juicy Seafood restaurant.

Reminds me of the old Max and Erma's layout with a Louisiana and Asian flare, if that's possible...?!

REALLY good food and preparation. Especially the JUICY part!

What Andy does for fun when he’s bored...

He and his friends have been dreaming up problems for each other...

Check out these highlights from Christmas 1972!

Stay tuned, more to come...

Pepper discovered mirrors earlier this week...

I don't know which is cuter, her looking at the mirror or her reflection in the mirror?

Blue Crab JUICY Seafood...!

Julie and went on a spontaneous date earlier this week. This new place used to be Max and Erma's. It opened in January and sounded like JUST our kind of place... :)
