And not to be outdone…

…Laura got this great shot of my taking the previous pic.  I love how you can see the scene reflected in my lens and where I'm shooting from the branding on my hat and the pavilion background. ;) This might just need to be my new contact photo.

And boy did it pay off to dip on the concert!

What an amazing sunset!  I love this shot with it's hot-pink vibrancy and the moon!  There is just something special about Lakeside sunsets and THIS was a particularly good one.  If you're only gonna be there for one night, THIS was the night.  Blessed by God's beauty once again!

And only a pano could do it justice…

All of us watching the sunset with our ice cream.

We even got to see a “Journey” concert at Lakeside

Something about the processing/sound board made it so the vocals had issues, but it was fun to sit in Hoover again for old-time's sake.  I dipped for ice cream and a sunset hoping that would be the better choice…

Some of the family stayed in the cottage we used when we were growing up.

It was the one the Blum's owned.  It's changed quite a lot, but it was nice to hear the latter from the second generation of our family that's grown up visiting Lakeside!

I’m getting my strength back.

I got in a couple 30-minute bike rides at Lakeside off-road and climbing a few small hills.  Then I did some yoga out on the dock for improved balance and flexibility.  I feel like I am back to pretty close to full strength.

I used my bike to get around while we were at Lakeside this past weekend.

At one point, I hopped off to grab something and left it standing here.  I guess I'm handicapped kind of. ;)

I got this great pic of a deer using my phone at Lakeside this past weekend.

I was on a trip through the wooded path and heard her moving around.  Maybe it's the same dear Johnny encountered there a few years ago?

It was perfect sailing weather so I tried to capture some pretty shots.

Even Isaac agrees, “Nothing beats Lakeside”!

Less than four hours later, we were hanging out on the dock!

I liked this shot of Hannah and Emily just enjoying themselves. I think Andy was fishing, or trying to find bait maybe?!

We loaded up the car and headed to Lakeside this past weekend!

It was fund to listen to all the chatter, laughter, and love for Lakeside in the air. :)

On the way to dinner in downtown Detroit

Some vendors offered to take us out for sushi with their Japanese management.  It was a blast, yummy and fun.

My wife is beautiful inside and out!

…and she’s cute as a button too!  Here is some evidence from back in the day.  She has the greatest hands and feet too.  Not too many people can say they were stalked in a college library for their hands… I love her more today than I did back then. She’s been such a great wife, devoted mom and all around blast to live alongside for life❣️

Planes, trains, and automobiles on my bike ride in Detroit, hahahaha.

Another view of the building for Automate in Detroit

It will be interesting to see what’s coming out of Apple this year…

…and I liked this graphic too for some reason.

Johnny and his blankie Janice made for him!

He sure loved that thing.  You could see right through it by the time he outgrew it❣️

I’ve always loved this shot of my dad at Lakeside

It was from when we were up there working on selling the cottage so it's a bittersweet memory.  I rounded the corner with my camera and saw him sitting there.  It was good to be able to help them, and I enjoyed the trip with Josh, but I do missDad and our back to back weeks of lakeside vacations as kids.  I remember them fondly.  Thankfully, we still enjoy visiting! :) When I walk buy this spot, I remember this shot in my mind.

I liked this view of the GM HQ building

It was fun to take in the view, drink a coffee, and look out to see the Canadian flags flying across the river at the same time.

You can get a glimpse of our booth and green shirts. ;)

On Tuesday, I spent the day at Automate.

It's the largest automation Tradeshows in the US.  Detroit was a nice setting for it.

It was fun to steam down the Mighty Mississippi! :)

Everybody needs a trip on a steam powered paddle boat!

I had a little time on my trip and decided this might be the perfect R&R.  It was!

Zac’s band has a homepage now.

You can see some pictures of him there.  It's cool to watch him pulling it together.

A similar vibe…?

There's no way I can match the intensity Jeff had while teaching, demonstrating, or "gently" correcting his students.  I hope I am following in his footsteps closely enough.  One of my friends and colleagues snuck this picture into the range and hung it up on the wall for comparison.  Good times.

Hannah has herself a nice new tool kit at work!

A cool picture of the park and monument

This was from my walk around New Orleans one afternoon.

It was sobering to see the hurricane damage…

Katrina left behind quite a mess in New Orleans.  Here, you can see the tangled remains of a riverfront building.

Zoe after a satisfying cardio workout. :)

I started my PT with a 20 minute warmup on my mountain bike and our paths.  I think Zoe's finished. She laid down next to me while I started the rest of my physical therapy exercises.

We had a great class at the range this past weekend.

It was full with 21 of us there.  We minted a whole bunch of new Range Safety Officers. It was nice to have the parking lot full to overflowing!

And of course, Frank brought donuts!

Some of the cool, modern architecture in New Orleans

I found myself traveling to New Orleans with my camera.

I saw this old cemetery and just HAD to stop and explore.

We called this “little” guy Mothra…

…he was named after one of the Godzilla movie characters.  It's hard to see, but the ruler is measuring his 6" wing span!

We loved lookin at the details in his antenna and the false eyes on the back of his wings.  The center of the four spots were actually transparent.  As a photo guy, this was a nice birthday-ish activity that day. :)

Itty Bitty is warming up too the WHOLE family…

It finally happened the other night.  We had all three fur-kids with us on the couch at the same time.  It's fun to see them come join (or ask to) one at a time.  Zoe, Pepper, then Itty Bitty usually in that order.

I’m proud of both of these ladies!

I doubt Susan thought she'd be teaching for free for twenty years!  That's longer than some people do it as a full-time career!  Great job!

Emily always makes me laugh and I enjoy living her farm life vicariously through her pictures.  I'm looking forward to what the Lord has in store for her.

It’s RARE for a house to even be put on the market in our neighborhood.

This one lasted for about four days…

I showed Josh the finer things at Lakeside! :)

We tooled around the lake and the trails

I took my nephews and brother in-law to have some fun at the shop

They did great and left with big smiles.

I hope Zoe’s happy we’re back to biking…?

Sometimes, you just can't make it to you bed before you need a break!
